Miguel Santamaría is a Professor of Economic History at Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED). Since 1997 he has held several management positions closely linked to the use of technology for learning enhancement and quality assurance. From 2005 to 2013, he served as a Vice Chancellor for Quality and Teaching Innovation and implemented several quality programs such as AUDIT (internal quality assurance system), DOCENTIA (teaching evaluation system), VERIFICA (quality program for degree and master proposals), and MONITOR (quality program for follow-up degree and master programs).
During this time he became involved in the E-xcellence project and participated in the Local seminar of UNED as coordinator of the internal team.
In addition to his management positions at UNED, he has offered blended and online education consulting services at several Latin American universities and international organizations such as OAS and IDB.
